circa 1895-1905 Desk has a rectangular writing surface with a side and back splash with turned spindles and finials on four corners. The center of the back splash has elaborate incised carvings topped with a semicircular fan carving. There is a small chip from the edging of this fan area. Legs and center folding apparatus are separate from the desk top and are turned spindle legs with block formations descending to spade feet. Webbing is original. Underside of desk has a few stains and top was cracked but repaired. Original finish on rich cherry-wood.
Desk dimensions are 28 3/4" tall with back splash at 35 1/2" tall. Writing surface is 18 1/2" deep by 27 1/2" wide.
Companion chair folds as well. We think the cane bottom is original. Has a nice patina to it. Seat 17" high with back at 38" tall. Seat is 17 1/2" deep by 19" wide.
Both pieces purchased at estate auction in central Texas.
We have plenty of detailed pictures if you are interested. This is a very nice well kept piece.
